If you want fresh family photos for this year's Christmas cards, holiday mini sessions are the easiest way to get them. They're short, affordable, and planned around the holiday rush. Here's everything you need to know about booking a Chicago holiday mini session with Captured by Sammi this season.
What is a holiday mini session?
A mini session is a shorter, simpler version of a full portrait session. Instead of an hour or more, you get a focused 20–30 minutes in a set location with a holiday backdrop ready to go. It's perfect for families who want a handful of beautiful images for cards, gifts, and the mantel without planning a full shoot.

2026 holiday mini session dates
-
Holiday Preview Days: Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25, at our Pilsen studio
-
Holiday Studio Minis: Sunday, November 1, at our Pilsen studio
-
Fall + Holiday Bundle: pair a fall mini session with a holiday studio mini for one price
Our studio is inside the Mana Contemporary building at 2233 S Throop St in Pilsen, with free on-site parking. It's an elevator building, stroller friendly, and pet friendly, so the whole family (dog included!) is welcome. The exact studio details are shared after you book.

How much do holiday minis cost?
Holiday Preview Days start at $295, Holiday Studio Minis start at $450, and the Fall + Holiday Bundle is $545. Every session includes edited images in a private online gallery with full print rights.

Will my photos be ready for Christmas cards?
Yes, as long as you book early. Most card printers set their last order dates in early-to-mid December, so we recommend booking by the first week of November. You'll get sneak peeks within 24 hours and your full gallery within 7 days, which leaves plenty of time to design and order cards.
Why choose a studio session for the holidays?
Chicago weather in late October and November is unpredictable. A studio holiday mini means no wind, no rain, and no cold, rosy-cheeked meltdowns. The holiday set is already styled, the light is consistent, and little ones can warm up between shots.
How to get the most from your mini session
-
Arrive 15 minutes early so your session starts on time. Minis run back to back.
-
Coordinate outfits in two or three colors that work with a holiday backdrop.
-
Bring a small snack or favorite toy for younger kids.
-
Bring any holiday props that matter to your family, like matching pajamas or a special ornament.
